SAA- Iluustrated Chart

I was approached by a friend on the committee asking if I could hep design the course chart. This chart would be of utmost importance for the swim event & it would use to guide the swimmers & boaters thru the event. Using Adobe Illustrator, I was able to layout the course, design & laying out a map, icons, arrows, markers & buoys. It would take weeks of back & forth for it to be just exactly perfect. This chart would be a staple for the swim event & would be made into a poster & laminates for the boaters to use. It would be updated every few years to adjust the course & buoys.

Swim Across America Event Journal

By 2020, when the world shut down, even though there was not a formal event that year, there would still be an opportunity to raise money & hand out marketing materials. The  beloved event journal would need to change, the challenge would be how to change a 9”x11” 128 page swim specific journal book, into a pocket size handout booklet that would be for all sports. The.  The 5”x7” 32 page. “My Way” booklet was born. Since there was no formal swim event participants were able to still raise money & do the event on their time, their way, not just swim, but bike, golf, tennis, walk, any sport they would like & still receive marketing materials. We kept the look & feel of the brand, but changed the illustration with various athletes riding a wave on their cover, again using Adobe Illustrator. (Insert cover photo) This was the catalyst job for me joining the committee as their great creative consultant. I would go on to design 3 more very successful journals including one cover that would be updated to be local to hour community & is still in use today. I went to my first SAA charity event in 2001, by 2009, I was volunteering as a boater to help the swimmers with their 6 mile swim. In 2012, along with my husband & 8 others, we formed Team Irwin.  I would fall into place as the’s team’s head of marketing, organizing social media posts, banners, team QRCodes, t-shirts, bracelets, 4 tables at the event & every year host a large post swim party. In 2022, our team would raise $102k all for cancer research
